Velvety Feel

Velvet is undertaking a revival this season. The soft smooth touch of velvet is everywhere from high-street to designer. Whether it be those vibrant velveteen leggings to that coated velvet choker or shift dress, everyones experimenting again with this luscious material. Velvet historically, is associated with nobility and grandeur due to its luxurious touch and appearance and of course its cost to produce.

As Christian Dior stated, 'velvet is glamorous and charming when used the couture way', 'light colours in velvet are rare and lovely- but a luxury'.

Now although some designer pieces of velvet are of course expensive, the high-street is providing a vibrant mix of colours in a variation of items of this precious material. Misguided and Zara in particular have caught my eye recently check them out, the possibilities are endless and affordable!
