Sports Lux/Athleisure

Sports wear… everyone wears it but its primary function has definitely been somewhat obscured . It’s used less now for strenuous activity but more for a casual strut down the street, as you could say! Sports lux as it’s termed or, as others dub it, casual sports wear, has crept into many people’s everyday whether it be from that branded Nike trainer which could not handle a 5 mile run to that oh so unpractical sports cap in your lecture. Sport’s wear has taken on a whole new identity with the hungry desire for brands and looking active/sporty at the pub and of course public places.
Living in South East London I could definitely say it’s a very common attire for most. You do not need to leave the house for long before you spot those 3 adidas stripes, or the signature just do it tick! It’s everywhere if you’re looking.
What I personally like about this sporty fixation though is the way people put it into their everyday. The mixes of fur and lycra, trainers and jewels, caps and dresses blends signature styles into collages of new inventions. Experimenting and utilising sports wear and sport’s brands in with your more luxury or smart items is definitely a real marker in todays satirical culture.
Try it out! Put on your nicest coat with your trackies; comfort and class. What more could you want?
Here’s some examples I played around with whilst in Peckham.
Enjoy!
