Monochrome

Black is the absence of colour and white is the combination of them all. The highest contrast possible is black and white and optical illusions usually depict these two shades. The monochrome trend plays a massive part in everyone’s wardrobes, whether it be that little black dress or black suit for a more fancy occasion, or a floaty white dress for the summer or a crisp white shirt.
These two shades connotate balance and duality; the simplicity of black and white can be adapted in many different ways to create an effortless ensemble. Any colours will be offset by black and white: its look is timeless. Looking back to renaissance paintings, to the 60s, 70s and 90s, it’s been present in all these eras of fashion and depending on its arrangement it can either look very stark (e.g checks or zigzags) or can mimic nature (e.g arctic foxes, black cats, cows, zebras etc).
Whist exploring this monochrome trend I styled 5 diverse looks in which I encompass both shades in varying ways exemplifying its timeless simplicity.
